Nechirvan Maroufi, a Kurdish youth, who was shot in the head, chest and hand by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the "Women, Life, Freedom" uprising, left Iran.
Nechirvan was only 18 years old when he was wounded. On September 17, 2022, Mr. Maroufi was targeted by security forces during the protests in the city of Saqqez.
As a result of the bullets, he lost the vision in his right eye, the nerve of his right hand was damaged, and some bullets remained in his skull, mouth and nose.
The Nechirvan Maroufi was also wanted during the celebration of Nowruz this year on the charge of active participation.
So far, dozens of people in Iranian Kurdistan have been arrested by the government just for holding Nowruz ceremonies.
This young Kurdish man was able to leave Iran after living secretly for some time.He now needs urgent help from human rights institutions to be transferred to a third country and receive medical treatment.
