Thousands of Iranians rallied on 20 February in Brussels to call for the EU Council to list the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.

The protest came a month after the European Parliament called for the EU to list the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization, blaming it for the repression of domestic protestors and the supply of drones to Russia’s military for use in Ukraine.

Throughout the rally, placards with messages in favour of freedom, women's rights, pluralism and the right to live free from terror were raised in the surrounding area.

The Islamic Revolutionary, as part of Iran’s official military, plays a central role in Iran’s use of terrorism as a key tool of Iranian statecraft.

The IRGC plans, organizes, and executes terrorism around the world. In addition, the IRGC has created, supported, and directed other terrorist groups.

On April 15, 2019, the U.S. Department of State designated the IRGC, including the IRGC-Qods Force, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended.
