slamic Republic of Iran is building an underground nuclear facility, according to new satellite pictures published on Friday by AP.

Taken on December 11, the images show new construction at the Fordo site, which is near Qom, 55 miles from the capital Tehran.

The evidence was collected following the killing of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, one of Iran's top nuclear scientists, last month.

In 2015, the Obama administration signed a deal with Iran - as well as the UK, Russia, China and the EU - which relaxed sanctions in exchange for guarantees of a peaceful nuclear programme.

Donald Trump withdrew from the deal in 2018, re-imposing sanctions on Iran.
