A classified document received by Avatoday shows that during Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) Iranian regime had used the blood of prisoners sentenced to death for treating injured Iranian soldiers.

The guideline, which had been ordered by Iran’s Revolutionary Prosecutor upon the request of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), instructed the provincial prosecutors to use the blood of death-row prisoners for treating wounded soldiers and IRGC forces.

“In a situation that the Revolutionary Guards are wounded in front lines or in street fights, and when they are in urgent need for blood, order the trustworthy doctors to confidentially take the blood of those sentenced to death to be used later to treat soldiers and the Guards,” the document read.

The document adds that the order has been discussed with Ruhollah Khomeini, founder and former Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic of Iran and his endorsement was obtained.
