In a series of aggressive military actions, Iran has launched missile and drone strikes in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Syria, and Pakistan, openly acknowledging its actions.
These provocative strikes have triggered outrage from the impacted nations, intensifying regional tensions and raising global alarm.
In its missile and drone attack on Erbil, capital of Kurdistan Region, the Islamic Republic of Iran targeted civilians and killed an 11-month-old baby girl, Jina. Her father, Peshraw Dizayi, who was a prominent Kurdish businessman, his business partner and a citizen of the Philippines were also killed in the assault.
The attacks have been vehemently condemned by the Iraqi Kurdish Prime Minister as a crime against the Kurdish people. Iraq is in the process of filing a complaint with the UN Security Council, citing Iran’s blatant violation of international law. France has also voiced its criticism of Iran’s actions, warning that these actions are escalating regional tensions and must stop.
Meanwhile, Iran targeted what it claimed to be Islamic State positions in Syria. In Pakistan, it struck a Sunni armed group’s headquarters in Balochistan province. The latter has led Pakistan to condemn what it sees as an unprovoked violation of its airspace.
