An advisor to the Iranian negotiation team to revive the 2015 nuclear deal said that the US knows it has no choice but to agree on the country’s terms.

"The final steps are still remaining, and a definite conclusion should be reached about these issues, however, the evidence shows that the US reaction is clear, and they know that they must cooperate with the Islamic Republic and our negotiating team in these final steps,” Mohammad Marandi said in an interview with Tehran-based Jam-e Jam newspaper.

Iran has officially dropped a key "red line" demand that had been a major sticking point in efforts to revive the deal, a senior administration official told CNN on Friday.

"The current version of the text, and what they are demanding, drops it," the official told CNN, noting that the US had repeatedly and consistently rejected the demand. "So if we are closer to a deal, that's why."

However, Marandi said: "We were able to achieve huge progress in all areas, including guarantees, verifications and issues related to sanctions, as well as issues related to the IAEA and this is the result of the resistance on the part of the Iranian people and the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Britain, China, France, Germany, Iran and Russia, as well as the United States indirectly, resumed talks on the nuclear accord about two weeks ago.
