Israel will allocate 1.5 billion dollars for a possible strike against Iranian nuclear facilities, the country’s Channel 12 reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, the army would use the money to purchase aircraft, drones and unique weapons needed for such an attack.
In September, Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi told Walla website that the country accelerated its plans against Iranian nuclear targets.
Tensions increased between the two old foes, Iran and Israel with Tehran further developing its nuclear programme.
Last month, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett slammed Iran for its behaviour in his inaugural speech to the UN General Assembly.
“Iran’s nuclear weapon program is at a critical point. All red lines have been crossed, inspections ignored, all wishful thinking proven false,” he said.
Bennet said that in recent years, Iran has “made a major leap forward” in nuclear research and development, production capacity and uranium enrichment.
The country is “violating” safeguard agreements with the UN atomic energy watchdog, the IAEA, “and it's getting away with it”, he added.
“Iran’s nuclear programme has hit a watershed moment, and so has our tolerance. Words do not stop centrifuges from spinning,” Bennett explained.
“There are those in the world who seem to view Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons as an inevitable reality, or they've just become tired of hearing about it. Israel doesn't have that privilege. We will not tire. Israel will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.”
