Irans new president Ebrahim Raeisi claimed his country will make progress with the help of friendly countries and by doing so it makes the US regret its policies, Mehr News Agency reported.

"Iran, with the cooperation of its friendly countries, will continue to make strong progress, and by doing so, we make the United States regret," Raeisi said in a meeting with Vladimir Andreichenko, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus in Tehran.

Addressing the two countries bilateral relations, Raeisi said there are great potentials and indicated that "there should be a change in the bilateral relations between Iran and Belarus by activating all capacities."

The Iranian President has also slammed US foreign policies.

"The United States assumes that sanctions can hinder the progress of nations, but it is wrong and Iran will continue the path of progress by cooperation with its friendly countries and will make America regret."

For his return, Andreichenko said that Belarus seeks to establish comprehensive relations with Iran.

"Western sanctions, especially those of the United States, are obstacles to the development of relations between the two countries, but we still believe that in the face of sanctions, we can even increase the level of our cooperation," he said.

Iran is facing severe financial and political pressure from the US, Israel and other regional countries. There has been huge local pressure as well, with dozens of nationwide protests over basic needs such as water, shelter, and electricity.
