A second round of airstrikes in less than 24 hours in Syria resulted in killing 9 more Iran-backed militias. A previous attack killed six militias also supported by Tehran, Syrian observatory group said late on Sunday.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Israel was “likely responsible” for the strikes near the Iraqi border. There was no immediate response from Israeli officials.

According to the monitor, the second round of attacks came hours after a similar raid killed six other Iran-backed fighters, raising the total toll to 15 killed in 24 hours.

In the past few years, airstrikes attributed to Israel have targeted dozens of sites belonging to Iran and Iranian-backed forces in Syria.
