Ahmad Tawakoli, member of the Expediency Discernment Council and the former head of Iranian Parliament’s Research Centre, called upon the country’s judiciary to investigate two agents of Qazvin Intelligence Agency over a looting case of state lands.

According to the letter submitted to judiciary, two members of the Qazvin Intelligence Agency had seized 45 hectares of Niavaran agricultural lands.

Tavakoli said that the two intelligence agents have managed to deny their positions as government employees to the Qazvin Housing and Urban Development Agency and controlled the lands while violating the rules.

“They denied being employees of government in order not to be subject to a ban on trading with government agents” he said, explaining that according to the rules, government agents are not allowed to get involved in trading agricultural lands.

This member of the Expediency Discernment Council noted that the illegal actions of these two intelligence agents continued despite several warrants from authorities.

The identities of the agents were not revealed in the letter.

Iran’s Ministry of intelligence has reportedly defended its agents, in a letter to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development in the city of Qazvin, and claimed that “the lands were not used for agricultural purpose.”
