Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, said on Monday, February 23, amid escalating tensions between United States and Iran, that Israel is going through “very complex and difficult days.” His remarks came after Donald Trump threatened to attack Iran if it refuses to accept a new nuclear agreement.

Speaking briefly in the Knesset, Netanyahu said: “We are experiencing very complex and difficult days,” adding, “We are keeping our eyes open and are prepared for every scenario.”

He also issued another warning to Iran’s leadership, saying: “I have told the ayatollah regime that if they make the greatest mistake in their history and attack Israel, we will respond with a force beyond anything they can imagine.”

Earlier, sources cited by Al Arabiya reported that Netanyahu would hold security consultations later that evening.

Meanwhile, in response to threats from the United States and Israel, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, warned of the risk of broader escalation if Iran were attacked.

Speaking at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, he said: “We call on all countries committed to peace and justice to take concrete steps to prevent further escalation. The consequences of any renewed aggression will not be limited to one country; responsibility will lie with those who initiate or support such actions.”
