On February 10, 2026, Khabat Dehdar, a Kurdish labor activist and former political prisoner, was arrested by Iranian intelligence agents and transferred to an unknown location.

According to reports, security–military forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrested Mr. Dehdar at his workplace without presenting a judicial warrant. At the same time, they raided his family home and carried out a search of the premises.

Khabat Dehdar had previously been sentenced in November 2023 by Branch One of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court to 12 months of suspended imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
As of now, no information has been released regarding the reasons for his new arrest or the charges brought against him.

Earlier, Avatoday had reported on the sentencing of another Kurdish citizen, Amir Rahimi, a primary school teacher and school principal in Azna County, Lorestan Province, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 2 years of internal exile following his arrest during the January 2026 protests.

According to that report, Mr. Rahimi was arrested on January 2, 2026, and was illegally detained in Dorud Prison. It is reported that his trial was held without the presence of a lawyer, resulting in the issuance of a heavy prison sentence and exile order.

Trade union sources state that Amir Rahimi has 34 years of experience in the education sector and had been working as a teacher and principal in schools in the villages of Aghaei and Bagh-Mouri.
