According to reports published by human rights organizations, at least 29 people have lost their lives in the recent nationwide protests in Iran, 25 of whom were Kurds.
These reports also indicate that protests have taken place in at least 88 cities in recent days, with their scope expanding to more than 250 locations across 27 of Iran’s 31 provinces.
The protests began more than a week ago following an unprecedented rise in the price of the U.S. dollar. They quickly spread to Kurdistan Province, and various cities in Iranian Kurdistan, including Malekshahi and Kouhdasht, witnessed widespread demonstrations by people against the dictatorial rule of the Islamic Republic.
During these protests, Iran’s military-security forces used live ammunition to suppress Kurdish protesters, resulting in the killing of at least 25 Kurdish citizens so far.
