An unidentified security official in Iran said the country fought a group of Kurdish forces in the border area around Mariwan city, Akam news reported.
The news agency, which is close to the Iranian security forces, did not identify the official who reportedly talked to the agency.
Kurdish-language section of Rudaw News Agency in Kurdistan of Iraq reported that the Kurdish forces of Komala clashed with the Iranian security forces citing Akam news but declared that the group hasn't made any comments on the incident.
Akam news didn’t elaborate further on the incident but said that the group could finally escape after being surrounded for hours by Iranian forces.
Avatoday was not able to confirm the clashes.
