Iran’s First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri talked with South Korea's Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun on bilateral ties and Iran’s frozen funds, Iranian media reported.

It was the first such visit by a South Korean prime minister in 44 years to the county.

In a joint news conference after the meeting, Jahangiri urged Seoul to release Iranian funds frozen in South Korea as soon as possible.

Chung explained Seoul's efforts to resolve the issue. He also said his visit shows Seoul’s willingness to develop relationships with Tehran.

The visit comes days after Iran met world power representatives in Venna to discuss the future of its 2015 nuclear deal and the US participation.

Last week, Iran released the South Korean oil tanker, its captain and 20 crew members who were in Iran captivity since January 4.
