The head of Branch 15 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Tehran has sentenced 14 protesters arrested during the nationwide demonstrations of January 2026 to death.

The rulings were issued in an online trial presided over by Abolqasem Salavati, widely known as the “judge of death.”

Among those sentenced is Abolfazl Karimi, a 35-year-old father of a young child who worked as a motorcycle courier in eastern Tehran.

According to reports, on January 6, while returning home from work in the Hengam neighborhood of Tehran, Karimi encountered two women who had been shot in the legs.

Sources say he attempted to help them, but Iranian military-security forces fired pellet rounds at his leg as well and arrested him along with the two injured women.

It has been reported that in a phone call with his family, Karimi said he was tortured without receiving medical treatment for his injuries and, while blindfolded, was forced to sign coerced confessions.
