The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelinsky, has announced that his country is considering referring Tehran to the International Court of Justice in an attempt to receive “greater” compensation for victims of downed plane by IRGCs.

Zelinsky declared that he is not satisfied with the amount of compensation that Iranian officials have reportedly offered.

“As for the Iranian side, it immediately offered to pay 80 thousand dollars to each family. This is a very small amount. We will press for a greater amount,” the President told national TV station according to Shafaq News.

The Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737 crashed shortly after taking off from Tehran's Imam Khomeini airport on January 8.

Three days later and under international pressure, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani finally admitted an investigation found that “missiles fired due to human error.”

Iran has stated that two missiles were shot, killing all 176 people on board.

The incident occurred in the tense hours as Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps were carrying out “revenge” attacks on American military bases in Iraq in response to the death of the regime’s top commander Qassem Soleimani a week earlier in US strikes in Baghdad.

The Ukrainian President has also noted that his country is still waiting for Iran to hand over black boxes. Iranian officials have denied in the past to send the black boxes abroad .
