After spending one year in Turkish jail, Kurdish-Iranian activist Adel Bahrami has been informed by prison authorities that he would be soon deported to Iran.

Bahrami was arrested last year in Antalya when he was trying to enter Europe to seek asylum.

“Three days ago, Adel called from jail and said the prison authorities told him that he would be deported to Iran,” Heresh Rahnavard, one of his friend told Avatoday.

“We have not been in touch since then and we have no Idea if he is still in Turkey or deported to Iran,” Rahnavard said, adding that Bahrami’s life will be “in real danger if turkey deport him to Iran.”

Turkey is highly criticized for cooperating with Iranian intelligence agency, arresting Iranian opposition activists and extraditing them to Iran.

Several Iranian political activists who have registered in the UN as asylum seeker have been handed over to Iran by Turkey in recent years.
