British Prime Minister Boris Johnson blamed Tehran for attacking Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities earlier this month, cutting its production in half.

Johnson’s assessment is reportedly based on the result of UK intelligence agencies investigations of the attack. The same result was obtained by US and Saudi Arabia’s investigation teams.

“The UK is attributing responsibility with a very high degree of probability to Iran for the Aramco attacks,” Johnson told reporters while traveling to New York for the United Nations General Assembly.

“We think it very likely indeed” that Iran was responsible, and used both drones and cruise missiles,” he added.

The UK Prime Minister has also announced that he is considering an increase of military deployment in the region due to the tensions.

“The Americans are proposing to do more to help to defend Saudi Arabia, and we will be following that very closely,” Johnson said. “If we are asked either by the Saudis or by the Americans to have a role, then we will consider all the different ways we could be useful.”
