Mojtaba Lohrasbi, head of Iran's Ambulance Services Organization announced on Tuesday that some of wealthy people including a number of celebrities are using ambulances to avoid traffic in Tehran's rush hours.

"Some of celebrity actors and other wealthy individuals are renting ambulances to avoid Tehran's traffic jam," Lohrasbi said, "due to the overload of duties, Iran's Police has not been able to prevent this unlawful and illegal act.”

Lohrasbi has also claimed that some Iranian authorities and other officials may have been using ambulances as well to avoid Tehran's traffic.

According to the rules and regulations of private ambulance services in Iran, "the departure of ambulances from the medical emergency centers must be allowed by officials to transport a patient. Using ambulances in any other cases is forbidden."
