According to reports received by AvaToday, Saman Nazari, a Kurdish citizen from the city of Kermanshah and a resident of the Dareh-Derij neighborhood, was killed on the evening of Thursday, 8 January 2026, while participating in protests against the dictatorship of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He was reportedly shot dead by direct fire from the country’s military–terrorist forces.

According to eyewitnesses, these protests erupted following a widespread and nationwide strike across the provinces of Kurdistan. From the very first moments after the protests began on Thursday evening, Iran’s military–terrorist forces opened direct fire on the people.

As a result, at least two Kurdish citizens were killed in the Dareh-Derij neighborhood of Kermanshah, one of whom has been identified and confirmed by AvaToday.

Additionally, according to statements from a reliable source, Alireza Seidi, a resident of Abdanan in Ilam Province, Iranian Kurdistan, was also killed on Thursday evening, 8 January, after being directly shot by Iran’s military–terrorist forces.

Unfortunately, due to the complete internet shutdown imposed across Iran following the major Kurdistan strike on 8 January, AvaToday has so far been unable to obtain accurate statistics regarding the total number of those killed.

At the same time as the killing of Kurdish citizens in Malekshahi (Ilam Province), as well as in Lorestan and Bakhtiari regions, a strike call issued by Kurdish political parties led to a complete shutdown on Thursday, 8 January, across several provinces in Iranian Kurdistan, including Urmia, Sanandaj, Kermanshah, Ilam, Lorestan, Bakhtiari, and Boyer-Ahmad.
