Iran said that the lifting of US sanctions is its red line in talks with world powers in Vienna before reviving the 2015 nuclear deal, Reuters reported on Monday.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh declared his country’s stance at a news conference.

He added that the Iranian delegation will resume negotiations on Tuesday and that it expects all delegations to return to the table in the Austrian capital.

On Friday, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed several sanctions waivers related to Iran's civilian nuclear activities.

The waivers are intended to entice Iran to return to compliance with the 2015 deal that it has been violating since former President Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement in 2018 and reimposed US sanctions.

Tehran said limited US sanctions waivers were “good but not enough.”

Diplomats are meant to reconvene for talks in Vienna in the coming days. Russia has said they could reach an agreement this month.
