The commander of Iran's Quds Force on Thursday threatened the United States by saying that its "teeth will be crushed" if Washington makes even a minor move against Tehran, state media said.

The harsh message came as indirect talks are being held I. Vienna to rescue a 2015 nuclear accord.

"This nation's power and capacity ... has reached such a level that if you (U.S.) make the slightest move, your teeth will be crushed in your mouth," Quds Force chief Esmail Ghaani was quoted by Iranian media as saying. "The time is long past when you could do whatever you wanted."

Tensions have risen between Tehran and Washington amid stalled talks on reviving Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.

Under the deal, Tehran curtailed its uranium enrichment programme in exchange for a lifting of global sanctions.

The seventh round of talks bbetween Iran and world powers on reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which began earlier this week, ended on Friday with a formal meeting, European and Iranian officials said. According to European diplomats the aim is to resume the talks next week.

After four days of indirect talks, both the United States and Iran ounded pessimistic about the chances of reinstating the deal, which former US President Donald Trump abandoned in 2018 and Tehran breached almost all its commitments under the deal.
