The command at Hamadan Airbase in midwestern Iran last Wednesday discovered that the air base’s video surveillance system had been hacked and its F-4 fighters had been disabled, a source who wants to remain anonymous told Avatoday.
According to the source, three F-4 fighters at Hamadan Airbase intended to fly to Chabahar in a military exercise on Wednesday, Nov. 3, and found out they were unable to take off. The drill was commanded by Colonel Abaki, the deputy commander of the base, who was himself a pilot in one of the fighters, and was not able to resolve the problem.
It was then discovered that the F-4 fighters of the air base had been disabled and could not fly.
Upon attempting to check the CCTV footage in order to investigate the matter, the base’s security command found that the video surveillance system had been hacked and its information could not be accessed, the source added.
Consequently, the person in charge of the security cameras, Colonel Payandeh, was questioned, and the base’s maintenance commander was immediately removed from his position.
Following this intelligence failure and security breach, the Intelligence Protection Department of Hamadan Airbase interrogated many of the personnel, and inspected many phones, but could not find any evidence in connection with this matter.
