In a joint statement on Monday, UK, France and Germany backed the United States and counted Iran responsible for this month’s attack on Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities.
“It is clear for us that Iran bears responsibility for this attack. There is no other explanation,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in their joint statement.
The world powers have also urged Tehran to agree to the new talks regarding its nuclear deal, missile program and regional security issues.
The UK Prime Minister has also announced that he is considering an increase of military deployment in the region due to the tensions.
“The Americans are proposing to do more to help to defend Saudi Arabia, and we will be following that very closely,” Johnson said. “If we are asked either by the Saudis or by the Americans to have a role, then we will consider all the different ways we could be useful.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohamad Javad Zarif denied his country’s role in the attack. He has also claimed that the policy of “maximum pressure” is useless and a failure.
