Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced in a statement on Sunday that a ship, which was seized by its forces early hours today is from Iraq.
According to IRGCs’ statement the “Iraqi ship was smuggling gasoline to Persian Gulf countries.”
The organization announced early Sunday that a “foreign vessel” has been seized in the Persian Gulf and its seven crew members are under arrest.
Iran is the only country in the region, which is under sanction and cannot export fuel to the outside world, while other countries have no intention in smuggling business.
This is the third foreign ship, which had been seized by Iran, in less than a month amid heightened tensions in the region.
Oil tankers were attacked, ships including a UK-flag vessel were detained and US drone downed in the past few months by the members of IRGCs, which designated as a foreign terrorist organization by US.
