Mohammad Ali Najafi, former Mayor of Iran’s capital city of Tehran killed his wife, Mitra Ostad on Tuesday hours before she was expected to be interviewed by Ensaf News Agency.
Ensaf reported earlier today that Ostad called and asked for an interview on Monday.
Mitra Ostad, originally from Kurdish city of Eslam Abade Gharb was the second wife of Najfi.
Iranian Media reported that Najafi escaped after the crime, while hours later Fars News, affiliated with Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported that he has presented himself at the police station and confessed to the crime.
Najafi resigned last year after he came under severe criticism for attending a dance party in Tehran.
