Pirhossein Kolivand, the head of emergency departments in Iran has reported hours after the incident that at least 146 people were wounded.

The governor of Kermanshah province, Houshang Bazouvand, previously reported 128 people as the number of causalities.

The province was the hardest hit area of the 7.3 magnitude earthquake which has shaken the Iraq-Iran border the evening of November 12, 2017 which left thousands of people dead, wounded and homeless.

Since the November 12 earthquake, 1,600 aftershocks have been recorded in Kermanshah.

People in the nearby cities of Sanandaj, Bokan and Mohabad have felt Sunday’s earthquake.

Some local environmentalists doubt the military activities of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards to be the cause of the frequent earthquakes shaking the region.

The mountainous region of Kermanshah province has been the major site of Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ underground military activities since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

“Almost all the running tests for Iran’s nuclear program are happening in the Kermanshah province. Research must be conducted about the regime’s military activities in the region,” a local environmentalist talked to Avatoday on condition of anonymity.
