Human rights media have reported the execution of at least 24 prisoners in Iranian prisons over the past two days. These figures show that, on average, at least 12 people were executed per day, and one person every two hours in Iran during this period.
The individuals were executed on 6 December 2025 and 7 December 2025 in prisons across Iran, including the cities of Arak, Aligudarz, Bandar Abbas, Borujerd, Saveh, Semnan, Sanandaj, Qom, Qazvin, Karaj, Kermanshah, Khorramabad, Dezful, Rasht, Gorgan, Hamedan, and Neyshabur.
News of these executions was published by several human rights sources, including Hrana News Agency, Iran Human Rights, and Hirkani, while Iranian domestic media reported only one of the cases.
Twenty-three of those executed were convicted of “murder” and “possession or trafficking of narcotics,” and one person was executed in an economic case connected to the “Rezaayat Khodro Taravat Novin” company.
Given that many executions in Iranian prisons are carried out in secrecy and reported to human rights bodies with delay, the current figures represent only a minimum of the actual number. Due to structural secrecy within the Islamic Republic’s judiciary, some execution cases are usually identified and registered days, weeks, or even months later.
Iran Human Rights reported on 4 December 2025 that at least 152 people, including five women, four Afghan nationals, and one Iraqi national, were executed in Iran in November 2025. According to the report, in the first eleven months of the current year, at least 1,426 people were executed, representing a 70% increase compared to the same period last year, when 836 executions were recorded.
The organization stressed the need for serious attention from public opinion and the international community to the issue of executions in Iran and called on Iranian and international cultural, political, and civil figures to respond to the widespread wave of executions.
The Iranian Judiciary also carried out at least 286 executions nationwide in November 2025.
Earlier, Hrana reported that from 10 October 2024 to 8 October 2025, at least 1,537 people were executed in Iran.
The sharp rise in the issuing, confirmation, and carrying out of execution sentences in recent months has sparked widespread protests inside and outside the country.
The UK Foreign Office issued a statement on 21 November 2025 calling for an immediate halt to executions in Iran.
The Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on 19 November 2025 condemning human rights violations in Iran, with 79 votes in favor and 28 against, with this year’s text placing broader emphasis on executions, women’s rights, the suppression of protesters, and transnational repression.
