Tehran tested a new cruise missile with a range of 1300 kilometers as it celebrated the 40th anniversary of Islamic Revolution on Saturday.
Iran frequently said its missile program is defensive and insisted that it does not violate UN resolution, despite US, European and neighboring countries great concern.
On Saturday’s missile test, Defence Minister Amir Hatami said that “this cruise missile needs a very short time for its preparedness and can fly at a low altitude,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted him as saying.
Hatami has also called the test “a very successful one at the range of 1200 kilometers” on Saturday, speaking to the state television.
In the last few months, Iran has been launching missiles towards neighboring countries such as Iraq and Syria and toward outer space.
The head of Iran’s air force warned last month that his country is impatient to fight Israel and destroy it.
