A 47-year-old man entered a women's hair salon with a Colt handgun and shot a 50-year-old woman who was his ex-wife and worked there, and then shot himself in the head.

According to the reports received by Avatody, on Tuesday, February 20, a middle-aged man went to his ex-wife's workplace in one of the neighborhoods of Shiraz city in Fars province and killed her by shooting several bullets. He then kills himself as well.

According to Avatody data archive, this is the sixth Shirazi woman who was killed by her husband in Fars province.

The central provinces of Iran, including Tehran province, have the highest number of femicides in Iran, such that Tehran alone accounts for more than 40% of femicides.

Earlier, another Shirazi woman, who was 34 years old, was killed by her husband with a cold weapon on February 15.

The collapse of the moral foundations of society and the promotion of violence and murder by the government of the Islamic Republic are among the main factors that sociologists mention as the reasons for the spread of femicide in Iran.

Earlier, Avtoudy had discussed the phenomenon of femicide in Iran in a special report. This report states: "Reviews of academic articles and theses report that between 375 and 450 cases of honor-motivated murders or family disputes occur in Iran every year."
