Iran has arrested the main perpetrators of a recent drone attack in the central city of Isfahan, Mehr News Agency reported on Saturday citing security forces without further elaboration.

"The main perpetrators of the unsuccessful attempt to sabotage a Defense Ministry industrial center in Isfahan on January 8 have been identified and arrested," Iran's Intelligence Ministry and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said in a joint statement on Friday.

The statement emphasized on the role of Jerusalem in carrying out the attack and threatened the regime that its actions will not remain unanswered.

Previously, Iran accused Iraq-based Kurdish political parties of being “involved” in the drone attack. The group has denied their participation in a statement.

In November, Iran launched cross-border missile and drone strikes against several of the Kurdish Iranian parties in Iraq, accusing them of stoking the nationwide protests triggered by the death in custody of Iranian Kurdish woman Mahsa Jina Amini in September.
