Kurdish activist detained by Iranian security forces in Mariwan

Kurdish civil activist Soraya Haq-Doost was arrested by security forces in the city of Mariwan last week on Thursday, as the Islamic state began a new wave of mass detentions of activists.  

“Our attempts to find out the whereabouts of Soraya have been failed so far, and the reason for her detention remains unknown,” a close friend of Haq-Doost told Avatoday, adding that the security forces threatened her family not to talk to the media.

According to the source, this Kurdish activist was walking in one of the city’s streets on the Thursday morning last week when was detained by the Iranian security forces.

Another civil activist and poet Aram Fathi was also detained around the same hours on Thursday at his house.

The fate of these two activists remained unknown.

Dozens of activists, especially from Kurdistan and Baluchistan, were detained by the Islamic regime in the past few weeks.
