Iranian deputy chairman of Energy Commission urged South Korea to return 70 billion dollars of Iran’s assets, errand by selling crude oil to South Korea. 

Adl Hashemipour said on Monday that, “We have provided South Korea with two options to return our money back; either South Korea returns the frozen assets, or purchases Iranian products equal to the same amount of money.” 

In the past few days some of the members of Energy Commission of Iranian parliament have traveled to South Korea and met with South Korean officials, including the speaker of National Assembly and the head of energy commission of National Assembly of South Korea, in an attempt to convince them to return the money.

This report came out a day after that South Korean government officially confirmed that it has not imported Iran’s crude oil since the end of the US sanctions wavier.

The 70 billion dollars of frozen assets are reportedly dated back to the pre-sanctions times.
