Britain on Thursday rejected the idea of swapping the seized tankers with Iran, Reuters reported.

US imposed sanctions on Iran’s foreign minister, Mohamad Javad Zarif, late Wednesday in an attempt to maximum its pressures on Tehran.

As European naval forces are planning to escort tankers in the Persian Gulf, amid soaring tensions over the seizure of ships by Iran, a MoU on maritime cooperation was signed between Tehran and Moscow.

An emergency meeting with parties to Iran’s 2015 nuke deal on Sunday failed to stop Tehran from further breaching the rules and regulations as Iranians vowed to reduce more of their commitments, a senior official said.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he would go to Tehran and directly talk with Iranians if needed, foreign media reported on Friday.
