As the U.S. military launched a new round of strikes against military and logistical facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on the evening of July 9 that several of its personnel had been killed in the latest U.S. attacks on southern Iran.

According to the IRGC's statement, the personnel were killed "following an airstrike carried out on Thursday morning against several areas in Khuzestan Province."

The statement did not specify the exact location where they were killed.

Earlier, Iranian media, citing the deputy governor for security and law enforcement of Khuzestan Province, confirmed reports that casualties had occurred during Thursday morning's U.S. strikes on IRGC facilities.

The Iranian Army also announced on July 8 that several of its members had been killed.

Meanwhile, the deputy governor of Hormozgan Province for political, security, and social affairs reported that three people were killed and 15 others were wounded in strikes on Sirik Island.

In the same context, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said that the Islamic Republic had triggered the latest U.S. military action by violating the ceasefire agreement.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), Barrot told French television channel TF1 on July 9: "It was Iran that violated both its commitments and international law by targeting ships sailing in Omani waters."
